[00:00:36] Vesna: Welcome to the Peak Revival Podcast. My name is Vesna. Today I'm gonna talk about how clarity is currency, particularly in business, right? So in the previous episode I talked about how mental bandwidth is such an important, aspect for us as business owners. And today I'm gonna go a little bit deeper about how mental clarity is a game changer.
[00:00:57] So mental clarity is basically just having a lot less on our minds. We don't do well when we have a lot on our mind, and quite often we carry a lot. And I wanna show you the difference of what it looks like to have less on your mind and the impact that it has on your business and the impact that it has on your bottom line.
[00:01:14] And obviously this translates. To beyond just business. This will have an impact in your life, in your community, in your family, and your relationships. The more mental clarity we have, the more open we are and, and the better we do. We just function so much better with mental clarity.
[00:01:30] So our mind is, look at it like a problem solving computer. It does so well to resolve issues. Right. And and Maybe, you've had this for yourself, like maybe when it comes to your kids, like something will come to you one day and think, oh, they've got this issue, maybe I should get this checked out.
[00:01:45] Or maybe in your diet, something comes to you one day and says, like, in your mind you're like, I don't think that food really agrees with me, or I should in look at doing this. This is,
[00:01:55]
[00:01:55] Vesna: Whatever it is, some diet change or an exercise plan that could be right for you.
[00:01:59] Our [00:02:00] mind works in this way where it solves our problems, we get ideas,
[00:02:03] it helps us to navigate our life and our business.
[00:02:07] And it obviously solves bigger issues as well. Right. Have you ever noticed that, you know when you're in the shower or you have a long drive, or you've had a really good night's sleep and you wake up and you're like. Oh, I know what to do here, right? I know what to do in my business, or I know what to do in my relationship, right?
[00:02:24] So when our mind is not full, it has this capacity and that's its job along with running our body. It has this capacity to solve our problems, but not when we get stuck in negative thinking. Right. We get stuck in a lot of stuff that we, we tend to think the same thoughts we relo the same problems every single day.
[00:02:45] And that's not the best way to use our mind, because what ends up happening is, and our mind works to solve the same problems all the time. So I'll give you an example. If you are in a bad relationship that you know is not good for you, you know, you should get out of it. and then you are. Thinking about it constantly, and every day your mind is trying to solve that problem, and then you wake up the next day and you're still in that situation.
[00:03:05] So it's just trying to resolve the same problem. Your mind is not being used for bigger things because it hasn't resolved the issue at hand. Does that make sense? Like it's going to resolve the biggest issue that you have and when your mind is free. There are no issues. I'm not saying that you're having a perfect life.
[00:03:22] but when we don't have so much looping around in our head, our mind goes to work to do bigger things for us. So we want to free up our mind to increase our potential. So Tim Goway, he wrote this book called The Inner Game, and he was a tennis coach, but then he went into the corporate area and was coaching people on performance and potential. And he said Everyone has unlimited potential, Everybody, not just athletes.
[00:03:45] And he kind of had this formula where he said,
[00:03:48] Our performance is our potential minus interference
[00:03:54] right? So we all have high potential, but there is this interference, which is blocking it, and [00:04:00] it's always the same. It's the worry. It's the negative thinking. It's getting stuck in the loop. It's the mental noise.
[00:04:04] And like he was saying for athletes, you know, if they were going to say like a basketball player was gonna take a shot if he was staring At the net going, oh my goodness, I don't think I'm gonna get, or if I don't get this, I'm gonna be in so much trouble from my sponsors. I'm gonna lose my sponsorship, whatever.
[00:04:17] If those thoughts started to play in their mind, they were gonna miss the shot, right? That was interference and block their potential. And when you think about it, how often. Are you or I doing this during the day where we are wanting to do things or we've got things that come up and we have like the worst case scenario playing in our head.
[00:04:37] You know, we've got the what if situations we're catastrophizing it, or it could just be the constant mental chatter that's in the background that you don't notice because you're so accustomed to it that is actually blocking your potential.
[00:04:49] So when we have nothing on our mind, we are free to do our best, do our best work, to do our best in the community, in the world, right, to be our best selves, right when we have nothing on our mind. And so when we are clear. And when we have a clear mind, we're available. Our mind is fully, has full capacity, full availability to create something new, right?
[00:05:11] We get more perspective in our life, and so this is where we come up with new ideas. Like when you don't have any problems. If you are, and this may, you may think like, I've never been in a situation where I have no problems, but when you have no problems on your mind. Is what I mean. You have no problems on your mind, and your mind is really free and clear in that state.
[00:05:30] There is so much goodness because we get a lot of good feelings. We get a lot of sat satisfaction and fulfillment and uh, joy and inspiration, and our mind is so free to start creating something new for us. Something that we never even thought of. This is where we can get some of our best ideas for business, how to grow, how to scale.
[00:05:48] This is where we can have ideas for our family or for the community or for the world. Right. We have bigger ideas with a freer mind.
[00:05:55]
[00:05:56] Vesna: So I have my clients do an exercise. So the [00:06:00] more you have an urgent issue, maybe it's even a huge problem in your business, then I would recommend for you to take a step back and take a full day where you are not in your business, you're not available on your phone.
[00:06:13] You basically only have pen and paper, and you're gonna sit there for the whole day. Without any distraction and you're going to brainstorm or you're gonna write things down, or maybe nothing comes out initially. Right. And the reason why this works so well is because it allows, it frees up the mind from its to-do list, from its troubles, from its problems, from, it just creates so much space because it's a whole day, right?
[00:06:36] Create so much space in your mind that in those moments. That's when you're going to get so much perspective
[00:06:43]
[00:06:43] Vesna: about what the issue really is. And how to resolve it. I also have clients do this when they're kind of at a plateau. They're like, done really well. They've had a lot of growth, and they're like, Hmm, I dunno what's next?
[00:06:54] And so taking that time again, allowing the mind to be free, taking you out of your normal environment, allowing you to be free and letting your mind do what it does, right? It will help you to come up with creative and big ideas for you to then. Use to help navigate your life or your business.
[00:07:11] So I'd love to know your thoughts on this podcast because this obviously translates to more than just business because I know for myself when I am caught up in a problem. When I'm stuck, I will do that exercise. I'll take my clients through. I'll take the day when it's, the bigger the issue, the less time that it feels like I have, the more I do that because I know that that's the fastest way to resolve the problem because I know my mind will work it out for me when I'm clear.
[00:07:36] And I also know when I've got a lot going on during the day and I feel overwhelmed that I have to take a step back even though I don't have the time. Right. I feel like I just have so many deadlines, but I have to take that step back. To allow my mental clarity to return because then I, I know that when it does, when I come back, could be five minutes, could be 10 minutes, could be 30 minutes, could be an hour that when I come back, I'm just gonna be [00:08:00] so much more productive, so much more efficient.
[00:08:02] Be working on the right things. Just have that mental clarity, which will speed up my productivity okay, and not drain me. And so if I'm trying to push through with low bandwidth or low mental clarity, I am going to struggle. I am going to be really tired. I'm gonna be really stressed by the end of the day because I've tried to push through an a place in my mind that it wasn't, it was just an lull.
[00:08:27] Right from overwhelmed, from thinking whatever it was, it was in a lull and it can't push through that, right? It needs to like kind of, you need to take the the foot off the accelerator, allow the mind to uncoil and relax, create more capacity and clarity, and then you can come in and do much better work much faster than what you're doing before.
