We are experiencing both stress and opportunity right now!
Stress isn't always bad.
I read a story the other day about a man who mastered two completely different sports: Chess & Tai Chi.
He became the world champion of both by the time he was 30 years old.
When asked how he mastered both (and if it was just ‘good genes'), he said….
“I attribute much of my success to alternating between stress and rest”
Athletes know that working harder isn't enough. The “magic” that allows them to become champions? Their recovery plan: nutrition, sleep, and self-care.
Stress helps us to grow, it pushes us to be the best versions of ourselves.
In times of crisis or adversity – we grow exponentially.
That's why we set goals, challenges, or deadlines – to create enough stress to stretch ourselves to a new level.
But if we don't balance it out with recovery, it will break us down and break down the body.
During exercise, we push ourselves until our muscles fatigue causing fibers to tear, and when we rest, it stimulates the growth of new muscle tissue.
When we over-train with inadequate recovery time – we get muscle breakdown.
???? Stress + Recovery = Growth
This same principle applies to our everyday life.
