It's a scam because it's like going to the doctor for a broken leg but only getting pain medication. Instead of treating the root cause of anxiety and depression, they numb the feeling.
Year after year, statistics show an increase in people suffering from depression. Yet, in parallel, antidepressant use has increased by nearly 400 percent over the last two decades.
According to a Harvard study, the number of patients diagnosed with depression increases by approximately 20% per year. So if meds were the answer to depression, numbers would be going down instead of going up.
But how do you treat depression, bad mood, anxiety, and panic attacks without taking nasty medications with nasty side effects?
First, let me explain what scientists call the second brain.
Your gut contains 500 million nerve cells (more than the nerves in your spinal cord).
The gut talks with the brain via nerve signals, stress hormones, and other chemical pathways.
Signals go to the brain from the gut, and it is easier and safer to manipulate the gut than the brain.
Almost 90% of our serotonin is produced in the gut, a chemical that makes the brain feel happy.
Serotonin also helps with sleeping, eating, and digestion.
Serotonin reduces depression and anxiety and helps you become more focused.
But when you have a leaky gut, your serotonin levels are down.
