Is work still on your mind after hours? The disagreement you had, is it on your mind days later? Does your mind dwell on stressful events? Do you dwell on your weight?
One of my clients had a disagreement with her family and she couldn't shake it for 2 days.
She replayed the event in her mind, how she hadn't done anything wrong but had been accused …and more. She felt attacked and disrespected.
Interestingly, her blood glucose levels SPIKED!
She hadn't eaten anything but her body was dumping glucose into her blood in response to the stress (being replayed in her mind for 2 days).
We talked about what she found hard to let go of, and also, the impact over-thinking had on her metabolic health.
“Dwelling on the situation is like eating Mcdonald's for 2 days” I said.
The thoughts we hold onto in our mind are like the food we put into our body.
If you struggle with fatigue, anxiety, or metabolic or weight issues – ask yourself the benefit of replaying events in your mind?
Dwelling on negative thinking makes us stressed and unhappy. We're not actually resolving anything in our mind in those moments…we're just digging a deeper hole that seems harder to crawl out of.
My 2 recommendations:
1. The best you can, let go of the things that bother you 2. See what solutions arise from a clear and peaceful mind
