The Healthy Eating Pyramid in Australia has been updated for the first time in 15 years! The updates such as avoid sugary drinks, eat more good fats, go for whole-grains, and have more veggies – aren't really mind-blowing unfortunately.
While we all know what healthy eating should look like, why isn't it making a difference to obesity, cholesterol, blood pressure, and chronic illnesses?
We often try to go for the next “fad” diet out there in a an effort to lose weight (mostly), drop cholesterol levels, feel healthy, agile and fit. But there are different diets, for different requirements.
Weight loss Diet vs Healing Diet vs Healthy Eating?
So many times I've had women come to me after trying one weight loss diet after another. Standard weight loss diets don't work (let's be honest here) because what the body really needs is a healing diet.
Very different.
Instead of counting calories or carbs and upping the exercise, so you burn more than you consume, you end up breaking your metabolism because you've haven't addressed the real problem.
Your body needs functional foods that repair your digestive function, stimulate liver detox, boost adrenal glands and nourish your thyroid glands – this combination is the driving force behind your metabolism! Unless this is addressed – you will STRUGGLE to lose weight, burn cholesterol, alleviate inflammation and maintain healthy balance.
Healthy Eating guidelines are to maintain your balanced state of health, not to get you there. While I'm relieved the pyramid has been updated, it still needs much more work – I would love to see healthy living practices as well, we can't just focus on the diet.
