One of the reasons you can lack energy and feel extremely tired is from vitamin B12 deficiency.
You need B12 to make red blood cells, which carry oxygen all around your body. Without enough oxygen, your body will slow down, and you’ll experience fatigue and tiredness.
And such a deficiency can happen even when you take supplements and eat food rich in vitamin B12.
In a previous post, I talked about a leaky gut, which causes inflammation in the body and impacts vitamin B12 absorption.
Poor gut health can upset the gut bacteria balance and cause bacteria to overgrow in the upper part of the small intestine. The bacteria consume all the B12 themselves (it is like having a hotdog on the table and a cat snatching it and running away).
Feeling bloated all the time can indicate a pH imbalance and lower levels of intrinsic factor – which leads to B12 deficiency and low iron levels.
Things like processed food, stress, and pollution can affect your gut’s health.
Here are a few things you can do to improve your gut health:
1) Avoid inflammatory food like dairy and refined sugars.
2) Increase your fiber intake and alkaline foods through green leafy vegetables.
3) Have food rich in good bacteria like kimchi and sauerkraut or any other kind of fermented vegetables.
4) Consume food that heals the gut wall like bone broth (vegan options exist).
