Using carbohydrates to kickstart the healing of Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome.
Often we are told that carbohydrates are bad, particularly when it comes to weight loss but when we're in Adrenal Fatigue (or HPA Axis Dysfunction), we have irregularity with our hormone levels, particularly cortisol.
And what carbohydrates help to do is they create a healthy balance of our cortisol levels by making sure that we have high cortisol in the morning and lower cortisol at night.
Carbohydrates are really important to heal Adrenal Fatigue and they're also important for weight loss in Adrenal Fatigue because the carbohydrates will help us to continue to burn body fat, even while we're sleeping.
You want to make sure that you're having the right carbohydrates at the right time of the day, particularly at night with dinner. Often I recommend between quarter of a cup to half a cup of carbohydrates at night with dinner. That way you're having a proper sleep at night, your body's continuing to burn body fat, your body can do all the repair work that it needs to do overnight, so you're waking up feeling refreshed, and it's also nourishing the adrenal glands.
