I was at a seminar yesterday in the city on breakthroughs in burnout.
Burnout used to be called “Americantitis” – the disease of living too fast.
Back in the late19th century, there was much change with the telephone, and introduction of cars and planes, women were going to college and working. There were new things to be anxious about.
Much like today, post covid work and life and the upcoming changes with A.I have us dealing with change and the unknown.
It's even more reason to be performing at your best, and taking care of your health.
Are you burnt-out or burning out?

Confidence
Health & weight
You're always stressed. You say things will settle down when ‘XYZ' is over, but actually, it NEVER settles down. You feel overstretched and overwhelmed. Easily set off and irritable, and your mind has a million things to do.
People think burnout is when you're bedridden, but that's the very end stage if you do nothing about it.
Burning out feels like constant tiredness that's not relieved by sleep or a weekend. You do the bare minimum at work, enough to get by. You stop taking care of yourself or doing the things you love, even socialising.
You've lost motivation and drive. Your mood is low or sour. You may cry often or feel emotional. Everything your partner does annoys you (sorry ladies, this isn't the norm), you feel depressed and have more negative self-talk.
Excess stress disputs the hormones that control your weight. Increasing weight even though you eat the same, and belly fat or the muffin top. You dress down in order to cover up because you don't feel confident in the way you look.
You don't have the brain power or concentration to work through tasks until completion. Need distractions like your phone and social media. Your productivity has taken a hit which makes you feel more overwhelmed.
