Energy is a key currency for a healthy body and a healthy business
I see a lot of women who are running their own business, just like me, who feel tired all the time, and if that's you then you would have noticed how your energy levels have a direct impact on your productivity, nothing probably impacts your productivity more than when you are feeling tired, unmotivated and unenthusiastic and can't be bothered and you are over it.
Here are a few simple things you can do….
If this feels like you right now and you are kind of waking up feeling tired and maybe you don't feel like you ever get going through the day or maybe you kind of flat line all day, so feeling tired all day and then maybe just at night you get that second wind and you feel like you can't go to bed because you've got this energy and then you end up doing some work, which makes you stay up late. And then you kind of feel more tired the next day.
One of the first things that I recommend to my clients is get a blood test, get your iron levels checked, okay so iron deficiency is so common and so not diagnosed or picked up, because we are not getting our iron levels checked.
Low iron levels are going to make you more tired, it can lead to more headaches, cravings for sugar and carbohydrates, it will affect your concentration.
Next thing that I would do is to make sure that you have regular meals every single day. So what I mean by that is that when you wake up in the morning, don't just jump onto the computer straight away and do your work, like particularly if you have an office from home, or you know, maybe if you are rushing around in the morning getting everyone ready for, like your kids ready for school, that you still have something to eat in the morning when you wake up, like as soon as you wake up and then making sure that you have regular meals throughout the day.
And the reason being is that if you go too long without eating it's going to create a stress response in your body and it will set you up for basically these highs and lows during the day and it will cause you to crave more sugars and carbohydrates, so basically all that means is that if you are not regular with your meals, you are going to have lower energy levels and you are not going to be able to get the right amount of nutrition in if you are not eating enough of good foods at regular meals.
And the third thing that I would recommend if you want to increase your energy is to get out there and start doing some exercise.
Now, I know that if you are feeling tired, it's probably really hard to motivate yourself to do some exercise, but even if it's just going for a walk, even if it's just getting away from your desk for about you know 10 minutes and just walk around the block, leave the building, it will make a massive difference to your energy because you are going to get the blood moving, you'll get oxygen going through the body, you'll step away from your work as well, but also to, the more exercise that we do and the more exercise that we do that increases our muscle mass, means that we are naturally going to have more energy.
Even if you don't feel like you can do anything kind of hard core in the gym, it doesn't matter, just as long as you are doing some kind of exercise, incorporating it into your day even if it's more incidental exercise.
